크로스베이스볼 출장일기 55일차 (08/02/21 - Day 1 Review with Coach Koo)
Accompanying Byung Yong Choi to New Mexico who is attending on a full baseball scholarship.
As Kross Baseball planned this business trip for weeks on end, it didn’t seem real until the day of our flight. As I met BY and his family at the airport that’s when it hit me. It was actually very unique that I got to accompany BY to one of the former schools that I played against during my college career. I was very proud of Kross baseball for sending a player to a great JUCO conference.
After checking in and then saying goodbye to his family, we were able to sit down and watch the Olympics. I thought to myself that it would be very cool to see BY represent Korea one day on the national baseball team. As we boarded the flight for our 11 hour flight to LA, BY stated that he’s never been on a plane for longer than five hours before. I chuckled and said that he would have to get used to the long travelling days on buses and planes. For me personally the 11 hours flew by and before we knew it we landed in LA. It was perfect weather as we were busy to get to our next transfer which was Phoenix, Arizona.
In Phoenix, there was a slight delay in our flight to Roswell, New Mexico. BY was absolutely wiped out and wanted to sleep. We got on our last flight and headed to Roswell. It was pretty evident that Roswell is a small town. As we took a quick drive around town, there was everything that was needed. We made a stop at the famous Whataburger fast food chain for a bite to eat. I wanted to give BY the first impression of the Midwest.
NMMI was kind enough to provide with the accommodation for a few nights before school began. We quickly spoke to Coach Cook and plan on seeing the baseball field tomorrow! Setting up a bank account, phone number, and getting vaccinated, tomorrow is going to be another full day.
Tune in tomorrow to see what New Mexico is all about!
